SPC Theatre to present ‘Portrait of a Nude” Oct. 21-24
LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Theatre will present the play “Portrait of a Nude,” by Laura Shamus at 7 p.m.. on Oct. 21-23 and 2 p.m.. on Oct. 24 in the Helen DeVitt Jones Theatre.
Tickets to the performances cost $5 for students and $8 for the general public. The theatre has festival seating with no reserved seats. Tickets can be purchased at the door 30 minutes before the performances.
“Portrait of a Nude” traces the history of response to Francisco Goya's masterpiece "Naked Maja" from the time of its inception in 1798 in Spain to the recent sexual harassment case surrounding it in 1991 at an American university. Spanning 193 years and based on real events, the play is performed in four parts, detailing the portrait's impact in Spain, France, England and America. The cast includes Daniel Teran Jr., Samantha Gutierrez, Penelope Ferris, Kari Zuniga, Riley Davidson, Kylie McKay, Ethan Wilkerson and Victoria Bateman. Each actor plays multiple parts in the play spanning 200 years of history.
