SPC Songwriter Competition deadline set for March 3
LEVELLAND – For aspiring songwriters in the West Texas area, South Plains College’s Creative Arts Department will host its third-annual Songwriter Competition at 7 p.m. on April 3 at the Tom T. Hall Studio in the Creative Arts Building on the Levelland campus.
Artists must produce an original song and submit it as an audio file by March 3 to SPC music instructor Jerry Serrano at jserrano@southplainscollege.edu. The competition will be divided into two categories: high school writers ages 14 to 18 and adult writers age 19 and older.
“This is a wonderful event showcasing creativity, musical talent and the art of songwriting,” Serrano said. “All are welcome to attend.”
SPC faculty will judge the entries and select six high school and six adult finalists to perform at the April 3 competition. An announcement for the finalists will be made soon after the submission deadline.
