27th annual Scholarship Gala to feature SPC student performers
LEVELLAND – In addition to live and silent auctions, guests at South Plains College’s 27th annual Scholarship Gala can enjoy live performances featuring SPC students, faculty and alumni.
Three commercial music students will take the stage at the Gala, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland.
Gage Bunting of Shallowater will showcase the singing skills he has honed his entire life. From constantly listening to country classics to teaching himself guitar during his freshman year of high school, music has been a significant part of his life. Before he embarked on his college journey at SPC, he knew he would pursue music full time.
“I am excited to play at this year’s Scholarship Gala,” Bunting said. “These donors provide so much for our school and its students, so I am looking forward to entertaining them for a night.”
Maddie Rose, a country-folk singer and songwriter from Newark, Texas, has been writing stories from the heart on her left-handed Taylor guitar and piano since she was 8 years old. Her influences are her mother, The Lumineers, Flatland Cavalry, Sierra Ferrell, Gregory Alan Isakov and many others. She has two singles named “Smooth” and “cowboy you deserve” on all platforms.
“I am so excited to share my stories and songs with everyone at the Gala,” Rose said. “My band members and I at SPC truly care about the music we make and are grateful for this opportunity.”
Riley Evyn is a country musician from Petersburg, Texas who has been singing for crowds since she was 4 years old. She is influenced by country musicians of the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, drawing inspiration from artists that embody the Western way of life. Evyn’s voice reflects the soulful tone of Patsy Cline, an early influence on her music.
“For the past two years, I’ve gotten the privilege of working behind the scenes with SPC alumni who were brought in to play at the Scholarship Gala,” Evyn said. “This year, I’m really excited to be on stage as an entertainer for such a prestigious event.”
