SPC to host history lecture series memorializing Ron Carden

LEVELLAND – South Plains College’s Social Science Department will kick off its fall lecture series at 11 a.m. on Oct. 25 in Rm 101 of the Student Services Building on the Levelland campus. The series will commemorate the late Ron Carden, who taught history at SPC for over 40 years and was chairman of the college’s Social Science Department.

The event is free and open to the public. SPC’s Social Science Department Chair Angela Roberts will be the featured lecturer and discuss the upcoming presidential election with a historical perspective.

“Not only is remembering Dr. Carden important for our department, school and community, but it is also equally important for us to bring critical conversations and analyses to our students,” Drew Landry, SPC assistant professor of government, said. “Through this lecture series, we expect to achieve both goals.”
