South Plains College to honor seven retirees for spring 2021
LEVELLAND – South Plains College will recognize seven employees who retired during the spring 2021 semester. The retirees combined for 160 years of service to SPC and each played a vital role in the success the college as well as the thousands of students who pass through its doors annually. They will be recognized during the virtual SPC Virtual Employee Awards Ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 13 (Thursday).
The retirees are Sharon Bogener, Jana Daniel, Lynn Gregory, Stephen John, Stacie Johnson, Rosa Lopez and Timothy Werenko.
- Bogener, professor of history, is retiring with 24 years of service. She started working for the college on Aug. 21, 1997. Her last day is May 14, 2021.
- Daniel, professor of sociology, is retiring after 19 years of service. She began working at South Plains College on Jan. 7, 2002. Her last day is May 31, 2021.
- Gregory, counselor, is retiring with 15 years of service. She started working at the SPC on May 1, 2006. Her last day on campus will be May 14, 2021.
- John, vice president for institutional advancement, is retiring with 40 years of service. He began working at the college on Aug. 1, 1981. His last day on campus will be Aug. 31, 2021.
- Johnson, administrative assistant, is retiring with 18 years of service. She started working for SPC on Sept. 16, 2003. Her last day is May 20, 2021.
- Lopez, custodian, retired with 16 years of service. She started working at the college on Aug. 29, 2005. Her last day on campus was Jan. 20, 2021.
- Werenko, professor of chemistry, is retiring with 28 years of service. He started working for SPC on Aug. 16, 1993. His last day is May, 14, 2021.
