Students needed for 2024 SPC Physical Therapist Assistant Program

LEVELLAND – In an effort to recruit and inform potential students, the South Plains College Physical Therapist Assistant Program will host an Open House from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 20 in Room 105 of the Allied Health Building, 202 Clubview Drive.

Interested students are encouraged to complete their applications for Spring 2024 between Friday (Sept. 15) and Nov. 15 on the SPC website at www.southplainscollege.edu. Under the Degree and Programs button, find the Health Sciences drop-down menu on the right side of the page. Click on the Physical Therapist Assistant link to open the program’s landing page. Then select the Applying to the PTA Program link located near the middle of the page to begin the process.

According to Jackie Underwood, program director and assistant professor of physical therapist assistant, "We encourage young students who want to begin a career as a physical therapist assistant and nontraditional students who want to make a change in their careers to come to the open house."

Underwood said there are 16 potential positions for mature students who understand the program is demanding and they are completely comfortable working with touching patients and working with people.
