SPC Plainview Center Cosmetology seeks students for hair, skin care profession
PLAINVIEW – South Plains College Plainview Center Cosmetology program is looking for students that want an education and career in the hairstyling profession. Students will be required to wear face coverings at all times.
Students must complete the following steps to gain admission to the program. Students first must complete an application to be accepted to the college. They are encouraged to complete the financial aid information for assistance in paying for college. The Cosmetology Entrance Exam is required for all cosmetology students. An interview with the program coordinator will complete the process. New students are accepted for the fall and spring semesters.
During the academic year, high school students at Plainview Independent School District can participate in a dual credit program with the SPC Plainview Center Cosmetology program. For details, contact the PISD high school counselors.
During the one-year training program, students work in a full-service salon that is open to residents and visitors in the Plainview community. The students are supervised by Jan Decker, Program Coordinator and Instructor in Cosmetology, licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The salon, located at 1920 W. 24th St., offers haircuts, hair color, high-lights, low-lights, perms, chemical relaxers, wet sets, curling-iron sets, manicures, pedicures and eye-brow waxing. The salon is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Tuesday through Thursday for appointments.
The salon features a pedicure area, a private facial room and additional student work stations.
