SPC Reese Center to host Vocational Nursing Pinning Ceremony on Dec. 12

 

REESE CENTER – Twenty Vocational Nursing Students at South Plains Reese Center will earn their nursing pin during the Pinning Ceremony at 10 a.m. on Dec. 12 (Thursday) in the Center for Clinical Excellence. 

The pinning ceremony signifies the completion of the year-long certificate program, making each graduate eligible to write the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX-PN) for licensure in Texas. 

The public is invited to attend. 

During the ceremony, Judy Brunner, RN, will be honored. Brunner is retiring after 30 years of teaching nursing at South Plains College. 

The most outstanding student overall will receive the Nightingale Award, while the best clinical student will be named the Barbara Bennet Bedside Nursing Award winner. Other awards include the Sue Ann Lopez Leadership Award and the Highest Academic Honor. 

Graduates include Brittany McCollum of Meade, Kan., and New Mexico natives Briana Briones of Carlsbad, Brandon Chavez of Fort Sumner and Krista Macias of Lovington. 

Area graduates are Cicelie Bushell-Melendez of New Deal, Ashlyn Collins of Winters; Ariana Gandara of Odessa, Cristina Garcia-Moreno of Morton, Makayla Gatzki of Plains, Kristen Hill of Slaton, Mary Mendez of Plainview, Allegra Ramirez of Tahoka and Jasmine Watkins of Amarillo. 

Lubbock graduates are Nayeli Berdeja, Karishma Daji, Kristi Harris, Caryl Lim, Angela Noey, Michelle Renteria and Cori Wilson.
