SPC students to compete for Miss Caprock title on Nov. 17

 

LEVELLAND – The 60th annual Miss Caprock Scholarship Pageant is slated for 7 p.m.. on Nov. 17 (Friday) in the Tom T. Hall Production Studio at South Plains College. 

The Mistress of Ceremonies will be Sharon Race, assistant professor of English. Musical entertainment will be provided by Creative Arts students. 

The winner of the pageant will receive a $750 SPC scholarship and the first runner-up will receive a $500 SPC scholarship. The 18 contestants, listed below, were selected as representatives for their student club or organization.   

Allyssa Almager, 18, is a freshman Pre-Veterinary Medicine major from Levelland. She is the daughter of Cynthia Camacho and Jose Almager, both of Levelland. She represents the SPC Catholic Student Ministry. 

Madison Birchfield, 20, is a sophomore Radiology major from Lubbock. She is the daughter of Kendra Birchfield of Lubbock. She was nominated by South Sue Residence Hall. 

Maria Isabel Botello, 19, is a sophomore Computer Information Systems major from Ralls. She is the daughter of Claudia Botello and Juan Botello, both of Ralls. She represents SPeCtra. She is a member of SPeCTra, the STAR Center and Catholic Student Ministry. 

Esmeralda Cabrera, 19, is a sophomore Education major from Muleshoe. She is the daughter of Jose Luis and Josefina Cabrera of Muleshoe. She was nominated by Phi Theta Kappa. She is a member of the Residence Hall Association where she is a resident assistant, a member of the Art Club and she is a Campus Ambassador. 

Lizeth Elvira Doblado, 19, is a freshman Forensic Science major from Pharr. She is the daughter of Lidia Hernandez of Pharr. She is a member of the Residence Hall Association and the Criminal Justice Club. 

Erin Farrell, 18, freshman Video Production Technology major from Homer, Alaska. She is the daughter of Bob Farrell and Vicki Farrell of Fritz Creek, Alaska. She represents Tubb Hall. 

Nicole Glenn, 21, is a sophomore General Studies major from Ropesville. She is the daughter of Calvin and Gail Glenn of Ropesville. She represents the Baptist Student Ministry. 

Tina Gonzalez, 18, is a freshman Public Relations major from Lubbock. She is the daughter of Silvia and Ralph Gonzalez of Lubbock. She was nominated by the Plainsman Press. 

Miah Hernandez, 19, is a sophomore Pre-Nursing major from Lamesa. She is the daughter of Michael and Stella Hernandez of Lamesa. She represents the Biology Club and she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, SPC Cheerleaders and a Campus Ambassador. 

Destiny Lyon, 18, is a freshman Education major from Lenorah. She is the daughter of Christopher and Suzanna Hewtty of Lenorah. She was nominated by the SPC Cheerleaders. 

Jaynearose Quisenberry, 18, is a freshman Pre-Veterinary Medicine major from Seminole. She is the daughter of Randy and Rosetta Quisenberry of Seminole. She was nominated by the STAR Center. 

Rita N. Reyes, 20, is a sophomore Government major from Lubbock. She is the daughter of Rita and Abel Reyes of Lubbock. She represents the Student Government Association. She is a member of SGA, SPC Cheerleaders, Campus Ambassador and Phi Theta Kappa. 

Imelda Salcido, 19, is a freshman General Studies/Surgical Technology major from Muleshoe. She is the daughter of Jesus and Maria Salcido of Muleshoe. She represents the Residence Hall Association. 

Jessica Sanders, 23, is a sophomore Biology for Pre-Medicine major from Lubbock. She is the daughter of Michael and Jenny Sanders of Lubbock. She was nominated by Campus Ambassadors. She is the president of the Biology Club and a Campus Ambassador. 

Kaitlyn Walden, 19, is a sophomore Accounting from Post. She is the daughter of Angie Walden of Post. She was nominated by the Geology Club. She is a Campus Ambassador, serves as vice president of the Geology Club, a member of the Residence Hall Association and the SPC band. 

Ambroshia Pollard, 27, is a freshman Cosmetology Major from Lubbock. She is the daughter of Charles and Etta Pollard of Lubbock. She was nominated by the Cosmetology Club.
