SPC Fire Academy students to host memorial stair climb Sept. 11
LEVELLAND – South Plains College’s Fire Academy students will conduct a memorial stair climb at 6 p.m.. Tuesday (Sept. 11) to honor those lost on 9/11. The event will be held at the training tower of the Lubbock Fire Training Center, 1515 E. Ursuline Street.
Each student has selected a name and conducted research on one of the 343 fallen firefighters from 9/11, and he or she will be climbing to honor that firefighter. The 27 students will climb 110 floors (which means 18 trips up and down the training tower) and continue until the last one is finished.
