South Plains College to honor fall 2023 retirees
LEVELLAND – South Plains College will honor employees who are retiring in the fall 2023 semester. The retirees have played a vital role in the success of the college as well as the thousands of students who pass through its doors annually.
The retirees are Tony Balboa, Teresa Chavez, Dennis Churchwell, Stephanie Deering, Jerry Gray, George Hensley, Jesse Moreno, Scott Parker, Rosa Rincones and Myrna Whitehead.
- Painter Tony Balboa is retiring after 19 years of service. He began working for SPC on Jan. 5, 2004. His last day of service was Jan. 20, 2023.
- Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Health Sciences Teresa Chavez is retiring after 14 years of service. She joined the staff at SPC on June 1, 2009. Her last day of service was Aug. 5, 2023.
- Director of Purchasing Dennis Churchwell is retiring after 17 years of service. He began working for SPC on July 5, 2006. His last day of service is May 31, 2023.
- Assistant Professor of Child Development Stephanie Deering is retiring after 18 years of service. She began working for SPC on Jan. 10, 2005. Her last day of service is Dec. 31, 2023.
- Campus Police Lieutenant Jerry Gray is retiring after 14 years of service. He began working for the college on March 23, 2009. His last day of service was April 20, 2023.
- Painter George Hensley is retiring after 14 years of service. He started working for the college on April 27, 2009. His last day of service was May 1, 2023.
- Bus Driver Jesse Moreno is retiring after 22 years of service. He began working for South Plains College on Sept. 17, 2001. His last day of service was Aug. 18, 2023.
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician Scott Parker is retiring after 21 years of service. He joined the staff at SPC on Sept. 30, 2002. His last day of service is Jan. 20, 2024. Custodian Rosa Rincones is retiring after nine years of service. She started working for the college on March 24, 2014. Her last day of service was Oct. 20, 2023.
- Coordinator of News and Information Myrna Whitehead is retiring after 16 years of service. She joined the staff on June 18, 2007. Her last day of service is Dec. 31, 2023.
The retirees will be recognized during a reception at 10 a.m. on Dec. 14 (Thursday) in the Wilburn and Helen Wheeler Science Building.
