SPC ensembles Real Book, Western Swing to perform April 6
LEVELLAND – Two popular music ensembles in the Creative Arts program are slated to perform at 7:30 p.m.. on April 6 (Thursday) in the Tom T. Hall Production Studio.
The Real Book modern jazz ensemble will open the performance and play a variety of selections by artists Melody Gardot, Jane Monheit and the late Sarah Vaughan.
The Western Swing Band will perform the music of Bob Wills and Ray Price including “Asleep at the Wheel.” The band is preparing for their annual performance at Bob Wills Day on April 29 in Turkey.
“People are invited to bring their families to this fun event and come out and enjoy the show,” said Brent Wheeler, assistant professor of Commercial Music, and director of the Western Swing ensemble.
There is no admission charge. Audience members will be allowed to dance during each performance.
