South Plains College Cosmetology slates July 7 opening

 

LEVELLAND – South Plains College Cosmetology program will open July 7 through July 30 to provide hairstyling, haircuts, facials, pedicures and manicures for the general public. The salon is located at 206 Clubview Drive. 

Interested patrons are required to make appointments for Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.. for chemical hair care or 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. for regular hair care. No walk-in clients will be accepted at this time. 

While masks are optional for clients, all SPC students and faculty will wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines. Instructors and students complete COVID-19 screenings daily before entering the facility. Every client will be required to complete a COVID-19 screening before entering the Cosmetology Building. The health and safety guidelines have been approved by the college’s health and wellness department .

According to Assistant Professor of Cosmetology Sarah Thompson, program coordinator, “We are so excited to have the students back after finishing online courses during the spring semester. And, we started the summer semester as a hybrid.” 

The students study theory during their online courses, and attend labs where they work with mannequins to complete TDLR requirements for practical experience. The students and Instructors are thrilled to have clients coming back.

Other services available for clients include high-lights, low-lights, hot iron styling, wet sets and all over coloring both permanent and semi-permanent. Bleach chemical services include permanent waves and relaxers and deep conditioners. Pedicures and manicures will provide shellac, polished, artificial nail applications for acrylic, gel or fiberglass. Also basic facials as well as RX Clinical Spa facials. 

Discounted rates are available for senior citizens older than 65.
