SPC grants full-ride scholarship to high school senior battling cancer
LEVELLAND – South Plains College offered a full tuition and fees scholarship to Briana Martinez, a high school senior in Lubbock diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma.
Martinez, a Coronado High School student who aspires to work in the veterinary field, accepted the offer on Feb. 27. She will graduate high school in May and intends to enroll at SPC in Fall 2025.
“At South Plains College, our vision is to improve every student’s life,” SPC President Robin Satterwhite said. “Briana is facing one of the most challenging battles of her life, and we want to help her accomplish her goals as she overcomes this illness. We are excited about her future and are grateful we can be a part of the success she will achieve.”
For those who want to support Martinez during her journey, donations can be made on her GoFundMe page.
