VI. GENERAL INFORMATION
Care of the Classroom
The scheduling of some classrooms prevents cleaning during the day. Your cooperation is requested in keeping the classrooms suitable for instruction. When you leave your classroom, please do the following:
Erase the chalkboard/marker board
Close all windows
Turn off equipment, power switches, and light
Return the desks to their original arrangement
Care of the Facility
The following rules have been established for students, faculty and staff because of the large number of students enrolled, the limited size of the facility and the extensive hours of operation required:
South Plains College is a non-smoking institution. There
are designated smoking areas for each building.
Food and drinks are not allowed in classrooms, labs or other areas with technical equipment.
Adherence to the above rules will ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the building.
It is the policy of SPC to deliver messages to students and faculty during class in case of an emergency situation or as deemed necessary by the administrator on duty. Messages for faculty will be left in the faculty member’s mailbox.
Communication with Faculty
All part-time and full-time faculty have mailboxes. Messages and memorandums will be placed in your mailbox. Checking your box frequently is suggested as some official communications require timely action on your part.
Often a field trip or a class meeting at a place other than the classroom will provide a valuable educational experience for the students. South Plains College encourages this type of teaching. Please adhere to the guidelines listed below when you take a field trip or meet the class off campus:
Complete a request for travel form (green).
Inform your Departmental Chairperson and Instructional Dean of your plans.
Inform the switchboard or Evening Assistant that you will not be on campus and where you can be located in the event of an emergency.
Inform your students where and when to meet. Make every effort to contact those students who might have been absent during the initial announcement of the trip.
Mailboxes for our faculty and staff are located in Room 105 in Building 1 at the Reese Center. The mail room at the ATC is located in the main lobby to the South of the main entrance doors. On the Levelland Campus you will find the mail room in the Student Center across from the bookstore.

require the material to be returned. For scheduling purposes,
it is advisable to allow 1-3 days lead time for typing
