Your Mind, Not Ignorance
College No Place for
Immaturity
Desiree Mendez, staff writer
It was recently called to
my attention that there are certain people on campus who are mad at me
because of my opinions.
I was
informed that these certain people want to “beat me up.” I find this very
comical.
An
opinion article is on anything that someone has strong feelings about,
whether it is for something or against it. We all have the right to express
our opinions, according to the First Amendment.
It is
really dumb for people to want to fight someone over an opinion. If it makes
you mad, then write a letter to the editor.
It is
very immature in the first place, and we’re not in high school. This is
college and we should act like college students.
I find
it highly offensive when I hear from immature people who talk about wanting
to cause me physical harm. First, I know better, and obviously I’m more
mature, since I don’t care about those threats.
We
should all keep negative comments to ourselves.
The
only good thing that came out of this is that at least I get to write
another article about the same stuff I’ve been complaining about for the
past four months.
I
understand that some of my articles might make you mad. If they did then you
took it too personally. I’m not mad or angry about what these immature
people are saying about me. It is the fact that they told a fellow editor
to tell me about it that bugs me the most.
If you
don’t like what I write about, come talk to me and let me know what offended
you. Then I will tell you why I wrote about these things. I like to meet new
people, and maybe it will help you understand why I feel so strongly about
what I write.
Just
so everyone knows, I’m not trying to make fun of you, put you down or make
you feel dumb. So if it seems like that, I’m not. If I did, I’m very sorry.
I know
how it feels to be mad at someone because of an opinion. But please come
talk to me and let me explain, or write the editor a letter. I promise, I
won’t bite or be ugly to you if you want to come up to me and talk.
Since
we are on the subject of immaturity, I have noticed that some of the
freshmen are acting very immature or rude to the college students that have
been here for a while.
We
should try and get along. We’re here to learn, and some like to make
friends. So lets all get along, learn some new things and try not to worry
about what everyone else is doing. Let’s grow up, and if you make a mistake,
try and learn from it, don’t blame it on some one else. Be responsible.
