Daryl Burgess, a three time All-American runner at South Plains College signed a letter of intent to compete with the Texas Tech University track team.

“I coached at Texas Tech for four years and it’s probably the hottest division one program to be a part of,” said SPC head coach Chris Beene. “He is one of those special kids who not only listens when you teach them, but you also learn things from him also. I think he can be a world class hurdler down the road.”

Burgess won the NJCAA national championship in the 110-meter hurdles with SPC last season and in the process set a school record. Burgess also was a member of the sprint relay team that came in second helped the mile relay team place third at the national meet held in Levelland in May.
