GENERAL INFORMATION

As an integral support service for the programs and purpose of South Plains College, the Library is committed to providing the primary and secondary materials needed to support all aspects of the educational enterprise, including university parallel curricula, occupational education programs, and continuing education/community service programs, as well as serving as a resource for the cultural, recreational, and intellectual development of its community. The Library seeks to deliver its services through a variety of delivery systems and strives to facilitate maximum access to information as appropriate to user needs.

Its collections consist of a carefully selected blend of traditional print and electronic resources organized for easy and convenient access by students and faculty. The Library participates actively in networks and consortia at the regional, state, and national levels, thereby extending access to materials far beyond the physical boundaries of the building. Hours of operation are ample to accommodate individual schedules.

Professional librarians are always available to provide individual assistance in the use of the Library. Group tours are available on request. Other services include interlibrary loan, photocopying, laminating, and a variety of audiovisual services.

LIBRARY COMMITTEE

A Library Committee consisting of a faculty representative from each department meets regularly and serves in an advisory and liaison capacity.
