Plainview Campus Vocational Nursing Program
The Vocational Nursing Program provided by the South Plains College-Plainview Center consists of an integrated curriculum of theory and clinical practicum. The student spends the first seven weeks in the academic setting learning basic nursing fundamentals. The continuing focus of the course correlates theory with related clinical experiences utilizing area hospitals and other healthcare agencies where supervised learning situations are provided. Satisfactory completion of the program entitles the student to receive a Certificate of Proficiency, and to submit an application to the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) to take the National Licensure Exam (NCLEX). The examinee passing the computerized NCLEX exam will be eligible to apply for licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas. The Vocational Nursing Program at Plainview admits one class each year in August.
