Student Activities Center
The Student Activities Center (SAC) enhances the SPC student experience by developing and empowering students, creating opportunities for meaningful interpersonal relationships, supporting student clubs and organizations, and providing fun, engaging programs for the diverse campus community.
The specific goals of The SAC are to:
¨ Provide a friendly, fun, safe environment¨ Implement and manage events and activities for the entire diverse student body
that supplements the collegiate academic experience
¨ Cultivate outreach and engagement throughout campus
¨ Foster co-curricular learning, the acquisition of skills, and personal growth
¨ Promote active and meaningful involvement of all students, faculty, and staff
¨ Always operate within the realm of SPC’s mission and core values
WELCOME BACK WEEK/BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
The Student Activities Center sponsors Welcome Back Week/Back to School Bash for new and returning students. This week offers a variety of events to engage students to be involved on campus and to highlight some activities that will supplement the enjoyment of their college experience.
The Student Activities Center in collaboration with SPC Clubs and Organizations offers a festive evening of carnival booths consisting of everything ranging from entertainment, games, and refreshments.
CHRISTMAS TREE AND CAMPUS LIGHTING
SPC truly celebrates the holiday season with the decoration of campus and the lighting of the giant tree. The illumination of the lights is accompanied by singing, celebration, and refreshments.
MISS CAPROCK PAGEANT
This annual pageant held in November combines glamour, style, service, and scholarship. SPC student contestants are nominated by campus clubs and organizations and are judged on personal presentation, poise, and knowledge of current events.
SPC HOMECOMING WEEK
SPC strives to put together a fun week of activities for students, faculty, staff and alumni in the spirit of tradition and Homecoming. Activities have included the annual crowning of SPC Homecoming Queen & King, Texan & Lady Texan Basketball games, Pre-game Cookout, Office/Door Decorating Contest, an ice cream social and various other activities.
Spring Fling is a combination of events that exemplify the celebration of welcoming warm weather, the proximity of the end of the semester and the close kickoff of summer. Spring Fling is usually held in April.
Each Spring outstanding SPC students are recognized by the various departments and programs for academic achievement and by various campus clubs and organizations for participation and leadership. These students, along with their parents and faculty, are invited to the honors ceremony and reception in Texan Dome.
Throughout the year, there are many other events, programs, and activities that take place on campus. Some of these include Think Pink Week, Dodgeball, Ping Pong, and Pool Tournaments, Intramural Sports, and much more!
